Module 10: Restorative Practice

Welcome to Restorative practice Module!

This Module is designed for students in order to prepare them to use restorative practices with emerging adults during their punishment and after their release from prison. During this course learners will be able to identify main principles, goals and characteristics of the restorative practices as well as gain and apply legal knowledge to understand the role and benefits of restorative practice. Through (real and hypothetical) criminal cases and simulations of different types restorative practices available in comparative law, students will train how to provide participation different subjects in restorative practices. As you explore, you'll find that restorative practices are the new way of social control of crime and that is very important for family members, members of community and victim to participate in these practices.
Module 9: Cultural Competence and Diversity Awareness
Learners
The Cultural Competence and Diversity Awareness module provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of diversity and inclusion within the prison environment and the youth correctional services. It explores key topics such as diversity management, gender and sexual orientation, neurodiversity, and cultural and religious differences in correctional facilities in general and for emerging adults specifically. The module equips participants with the knowledge and strategies necessary to foster an inclusive and respectful environment if they’ll be working in this field in the future by addressing challenges and promoting effective policies and practices. Using interactive activities, case studies, and experiential learning methodologies, the course encourages reflection and active engagement in developing cultural competence.
Module 8: Crisis Management and Security Protocols

Welcome to the Crisis Management and Security Protocols module!

This module provides a comprehensive understanding of crisis management principles, security protocols, and de-escalation techniques in correctional settings. Through interactive activities, case studies, and simulations, learners will develop the skills to identify potential crises, respond effectively, and uphold safety and ethical standards.
Module 7: Legal Knowledge and Procedural Understanding
Learners
The Module is dedicated to the students of law, social work, security sciences, pedagogy, and psychology. They have to learn the key principle on the notion of the emerging adulthood, international and national legal protection of the rights of the emerging adults inmates, work with the them in the correctional system institutions, the role of the judicial institutions.

The students will have theoretical classes in order to learn key legal principles and the most important international and national legal acts. They will also study case-study regarding the criminal cases against the emerging adult offenders as well as the case-study regarding the work with the emerging adults in the correctional facilities. The students will get the opportunity to discuss with the officials and the employees from the correctional system as well as judicial institutions. They will check their theoretical knowledge through the simulation of the criminal cases against the emerging adults. Class discussions, essays, and final exam will be the methods for assessment of the knowledge but also for the assessment of the students’ attitudes and the way they acquire knowledge.
Module 6: Continuous Professional Development

This module provides a comprehensive development of the important continuing professional development and benefits that these provide for those who wish to work in the correctional environment. Through interactive activities, case studies and simulations, courses will develop skills and knowledge on how to plan their continuing professional development and set clear and precise objectives in order to develop professionally and always be in tune with the changing level of society and the correctional environment.
Module 5: Communication and Interpersonal Skill

Welcome to the Communication and Interpersonal Skills (Interdepartmental Cooperation) module!

This module is designed for students to prepare them to use communication and interpersonal skills in the context of interdepartmental cooperation. During this course, students will be able to identify the main principles, goals, and characteristics of effective communication and collaboration, as well as acquire and apply legal knowledge to understand the role and benefits of these skills. Through (real and hypothetical) cases and simulations of different types of communication strategies available in comparative law, students will train on how to ensure the participation of different subjects in interdepartmental cooperation. As you explore, you will see that communication and interpersonal skills are essential for successful collaboration between different departments and very important for team members, community members, and all participants in these processes.
Module 4: Trauma-Informed Practices

This module is designed to help participants develop practical and theoretical skills in trauma-informed practices. The aim is to provide participants with an understanding of the key concepts, psychological principles, standards and strategies needed to work with traumatized individuals in a variety of professional contexts. The module puts a special focus on creating a safe environment, building trust, empowering individuals and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. The module includes a combination of theoretical lectures, group discussions, case studies and practical simulations. Each activity is designed to increase understanding of trauma-informed approaches and empower participants in their practical application.

"Integrating Technology in Correctional Education," is designed to highlight the essential role of technology in correctional educational environments. Participants will learn to identify and utilize safe and efficient educational platforms and applications, tailored to the specific needs of learners in these settings. The module also emphasizes conducting interactive activities based on technology, aimed at enhancing the educational process. Additionally, trainees will be instructed in creating and adapting digital resources, applying instructional design principles to meet the specific needs of inmates
Module 2: Specialized Knowledge in Adolescent Psychology and Criminology

This module offers comprehensive insights into adolescent psychology, criminology, trauma impact, intervention techniques, and legal-ethical standards in correctional environments. Adolescence is a transformative stage with cognitive, emotional, and social changes, often shaped by environmental factors like the correctional system. Criminological theories help identify the root causes of juvenile delinquency, providing tools for effective intervention. Trauma, frequently underlying delinquent behaviour, requires trauma-informed care to aid rehabilitation. Intervention strategies such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, along with teamwork, are key to supporting youth. Legal and ethical awareness ensures a balanced approach to justice, emphasizing human rights and rehabilitation. Through practical exercises and interactive learning, the program equips professionals with the knowledge and skills to facilitate positive change and reduce recidivism.
