This Module is designed for students in order to prepare them to use restorative practices with emerging adults during their punishment and after their release from prison. During this course learners will be able to identify main principles, goals and characteristics of the restorative practices as well as gain and apply legal knowledge to understand the role and benefits of restorative practice. Through (real and hypothetical) criminal cases and simulations of different types restorative practices available in comparative law, students will train how to provide participation different subjects in restorative practices. As you explore, you'll find that restorative practices are the new way of social control of crime and that is very important for family members, members of community and victim to participate in these practices.
Upon completion of this module, learners will be able to:
- Explain the principles of diversity management and their application within correctional facilities
- Identify the benefits and challenges of diversity in prisons, including its impact on staff-inmate relationships and institutional policies
- Analyse gender stereotypes and their influence on the experiences of both inmates and prison staff
- Examine the challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals in prisons and propose strategies for fostering an inclusive environment
- Describe the concept of neurodiversity and assess the impact of ADHD and other neurodivergent conditions in prison settings
- Recognize cultural and religious differences in prisons and apply strategies for conflict resolution and inclusion
- Design practical approaches to address discrimination, implicit bias, and structural barriers within the prison system

This module provides a comprehensive understanding of crisis management principles, security protocols, and de-escalation techniques in correctional settings. Through interactive activities, case studies, and simulations, learners will develop the skills to identify potential crises, respond effectively, and uphold safety and ethical standards.
By the end of this module, learners will be able to:
- Identify key legal principles regarding the notion of the emerging adulthood, the international and constitutional protection of inmates’ rights, the legal position of the emerging adults in the correctional system, the legal (substantial and procedural) aspects of the work with the emerging adults in the correctional systems, as well as the relevant case studies.
- Apply legal knowledge to guarantee the fair and legal treatment of the inmates as well as to achieve their rehabilitation and resocialization.
- Implement legal regulation (international acts, constitutional provisions, laws, other legal acts as well as the case study) in the work with the emerging adults in the correctional system to achieve guarantee of their human rights as well as their meaningful and efficient treatment.
- Develop legal knowledge on the issues regarding legal position of the emerging adults in the correctional system, the legal acts which regulate their position, the institutions for the implementation of the legal acts, the procedures on the work with the emerging adults, as well as the consciousness on the importance, implementation and improvement of the legal framework which regulates the position of the emerging adults in the correctional system.
- Analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the legal provisions on the position and work with the emerging adults in the correctional system from the comparative law, positive law, and sociological aspects.
- Evaluate the case studies and practices based on the legal acts and understand the influences of the latter on the former.
The Module is dedicated to the students of law, social work, security sciences, pedagogy, and psychology. They have to learn the key principle on the notion of the emerging adulthood, international and national legal protection of the rights of the emerging adults inmates, work with the them in the correctional system institutions, the role of the judicial institutions.
The students will have theoretical classes in order to learn key legal principles and the most important international and national legal acts. They will also study case-study regarding the criminal cases against the emerging adult offenders as well as the case-study regarding the work with the emerging adults in the correctional facilities. The students will get the opportunity to discuss with the officials and the employees from the correctional system as well as judicial institutions. They will check their theoretical knowledge through the simulation of the criminal cases against the emerging adults. Class discussions, essays, and final exam will be the methods for assessment of the knowledge but also for the assessment of the students’ attitudes and the way they acquire knowledge.At the end of this module, learners will be able to:
- Identify the factors that determine them to participate in continuing professional training courses and to want to develop professionally.
- Apply in practice the skills and knowledge acquired after completing the continuing professional training module

Through (real and hypothetical) cases and simulations of different types of communication strategies available in comparative law, students will train on how to ensure the participation of different subjects in interdepartmental cooperation. As you explore, you will see that communication and interpersonal skills are essential for successful collaboration between different departments and very important for team members, community members, and all participants in these processes.
- Participants will memorize and define the basic concepts of trauma-informed practices and their impact on individuals
- Participants will be able to understand explain key psychological principles relevant to working with adolescents and adults in correctional facilities.
